PREVIOUS MESSAGES FROM THE BOARD BELOW

Tuesday August 4, 2020

To our Valued Members and Industry Partners:
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we invite you to please join us for a Special Membership Presentation scheduled for Aug. 11, 2020 at 3 p.m.
As you may know, the elected leadership team has been working tirelessly over the past year to fully understand the significant challenges facing our Association. Over the past several months, the board has developed and implemented some key strategies and initiated some significant steps designed to create the best path forward for our members, including the board’s recent vote to accept a purchase offer for our Association building.
This Special Membership Presentation will include information from members of our Board of Directors on their comprehensive research, financial analysis and the process that led to the vote to sell and the closing of that transaction on July 31. As difficult a decision as the building sale was, it was a decision that was unanimous from our board and a major step in our fiduciary responsibility.
The board will be providing further updates on the state of the Association’s operations and services, a financial overview, including options for use of the building sale proceeds. In addition, we will be providing you with some exciting new proposals designed to maximize membership’s access to resources, professional development and training, leadership, advocacy and more. Benefits, opportunities and risks associated with all of these options will be detailed during this meeting and your guidance and feedback after the meeting is going to help shape the future of our association.
Due to the continuing challenges presented by the health pandemic, we will once again be hosting this meeting via the Zoom platform with an opportunity for members to listen, watch and submit questions to the Board.
We look forward to the opportunity to meet with you on August 11.

A message from the AAR Board of Directors

Despite the rumors and inaccuracies being thrown out to our members throughout the past several days, the Aurora Association of REALTORS® and its Board of Directors have not sold the association building out from under our members. The Association Board of Directors has conducted and continues to execute its due diligence, leadership and fiscal responsibilities in evaluating the association’s financial situation and creating a viable, visionary and effective path forward. That discussion does include the potential sale of our current building in the near future. The Board is also working through the details of an updated business plan that will provide for the delivery of all core member services, as well as a physical location/office within the city of Aurora that would allow for in-person meetings and member and community engagement.

Again, we are incredibly frustrated and saddened by the recent allegations, misrepresentations and actions of former Board Chairman Mitch Myers and the challenges he has created to maintaining the integrity of the work of your association Board and its process. While not every member of our board can always agree on the decisions and majority votes that are implemented, we all take an oath of office to support and adhere to the overall decision of the board in the best interests of our members.

We are committed to the mission and vision of your association and, despite potential individual differences, we are committed to working on your behalf with one clear voice and actions that reflect honesty, integrity and truthfulness.

As our members, your best interests are at the heart of the decisions we make. That includes the toughest of decisions that are often required in times like these. That said, we are truly excited about and for the future of the Aurora of Association of REALTORS®.

Serving you,

The Aurora Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors

Friday June 5, 2020

To our treasured REALTORS® and Industry Partners:

The AAR Board of Directors is saddened by the resignation and subsequent actions of Mitch Myers.

Since COVID-19 entered our world we have worked tirelessly to evaluate our business model and options to ensure our viability and the future for the Association we love. Every member of this Board of Directors is 100 percent invested in the success of our organization. We understand as members of the Board of Directors that leaders sometimes have to make tough decisions. We want you to know the best interest of you, the member, is always at the heart of everything we do.

To that end, we have been diligently investigating all options and feel at this time a hybrid organization would be in the best interest of AAR. A hybrid organization would provide all the networking opportunities we currently enjoy, while enhancing our virtual presence and our communication capabilities. By reducing our footprint, we are ensuring the financial viability of this Association for many years to come. We will still have a physical presence in Aurora, including meeting spaces that will both serve the membership and provide opportunities for community engagement. Because taking on a big debt for a remodel is not financially responsible at this point, part of the plan includes the sale of the building. This will give the organization the ability to create new and exciting opportunities for you and your business.

This process is not complete as there are still a lot of moving pieces. We will be holding a membership meeting once all those pieces are in place and we can articulate our vision effectively to Aurora Members. Please look for these announcements and plan to attend as your voice is extremely valuable to us.

While this has been a difficult time for everyone, we are excited about the future of the Aurora of Association of REALTORS®.

If you have questions or comments please contact any member on the Board of Directors.

Serving you,

The Aurora Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors
