AAR Candidates

The Aurora Association of Realtors® is led by a board of directors.  These directors are responsible for charting the course for the association, determining membership needs and how the organization should be structured to meet those needs in the coming years.  They also make important decisions at the state and national level that directly impact the business climate for all REALTORS® and licensees.

They volunteer their time and expertise to help the Aurora Association of Realtors® continue to grow and serve its members better.

This year, four seats on the AAR board of directors are open.  We are fortunate to have nine incredibly qualified candidates running for those four seats.  As a result, each member’s vote is incredibly important.  In the coming weeks, each member will receive an email with a username and password as well as a link to a voting web site.  Once there, you will have the opportunity to vote for four of the following candidates.

Remember, these are the people leading your association and your vote matters.  Please take the time to read about each candidate and vote for those you feel will best represent you here at AAR.

Licensed agent in Colorado for 2 years.

Member of AAR for 2 years.

Highest level of formal education:  Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Designations/certifications:  Certified Residential Investment Specialist (CRIS).

Positions held or committees served on:  In the community, a volunteer contributor with the City of Aurora, the MS Society, the Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and Make-a-Wish Colorado.

Qualifications for seeking office of director:  “I have prior experience as a restaurant general manager. In that role, I developed store managers, shift leads, cooks, administration, and human resource employees. I applied specific knowledge I gained with obtaining my MBA to create dynamic work environments and a culture of high moral regard and accountability.”  In addition, Berkey says that education is a priority. “I am a continual learner and will always strive to increase my knowledge and credibility with classes and certifications. To attest this point, I have accumulated 30 C.E. credits in the past 12 months.”

Goals and objectives as a director:  “I believe the City of Aurora has much to offer in terms of being a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. As a director, I would strive to bring positive awareness to both the real estate industry and the City of Aurora and its REALTOR® Association. As a director, I would also push for the professional development of our REALTORS® with a continued focus on civic and community involvement, and in turn, creating a true sense of pride in membership.”

David Cline

Member of AAR for 2 years.

Highest level of formal education:  Bachelor’s Degree.

Designations/certifications:  None.

Positions held or committees served on:  At his real estate firm, he has digitized operations into a universally-accessible file sharing system, which has increased productivity, efficiency and flexibility.

Qualifications for seeking office of director:  Before becoming a REALTOR®, Cline worked in the outdoor/adventure tourism industry for 15 years as a whitewater raft guide. “On a daily basis I thought of myself as a teacher, imparting knowledge on guests to get them safely to the end of the trip. In many ways it was similar to the way we shepherd our clients through the unfamiliar world of real estate.” In 2007 he joined the young company Royal Gorge Rafting, where he established vehicle and equipment logging and maintenance programs that are still in use there today. When the company built its first zip line course four years later, Cline was promoted to operations manager for the zip line division. In the first year, the division started with 20 guides and quickly had to ramp up to 40, serving more than 14,000 guests and generating nearly $2 million in revenue. The following year the company expanded again with a second course, and Cline created data collection and analysis tools for both the zip line and rafting divisions that have helped the company track performance and focus marketing. “The systems are still in place, and I still consult on them occasionally as the company’s needs change.”

Goals and objectives as a director:  “I bring to the board the views and perspective of a younger generation. I will make a push to grow the membership, and I believe that appealing to younger real estate professionals is the best way to achieve that. Communication with potential members to emphasize the benefits of being a REALTOR® and to engage existing membership is key, as is making ongoing education even more interesting and accessible than it already is.”
